He served as General Counsel to United Vermont Bancorporation, a publicly traded bank holding company, and Senior Vice President in charge of legal affairs for its major subsidiary, the Proctor Bank. During the period 1974-86 he played a principal role in the growth of the parent company via the acquisition of several banks. He oversaw all documentation for the major credits of the subsidiary banks, its trust departments and managed its litigation portfolio, often acting personally as litigation counsel for the banks' foreclosures and collection suits. In the process, he became well versed in all Articles of the Uniform Commercial Code and federal and state securities law.

Thereafter, he went to work as Corporate Counsel for S-K-I Ltd., a public company which was the largest owner of ski areas in the United States at the time. Its subsidiaries included Killington, Ltd., Mount Snow, Ltd. and the corporate entities which owned the Waterville Valley (NH), Sugarloaf (ME), Haystack (VT) and Bear Mountain (CA) ski areas. He played a principal role in the acquisition of the aforementioned ski areas and in the eventual sale of S-K-I, Ltd. to the American Skiing Company in 1996, at which time he served as Vice President and Secretary of S-K-I, Ltd.

He also played a large role in the legal affairs of Killington, Ltd., the Company's largest ski area, managing its corporate documentation and handling the legal aspects of its permit processing, including Vermont's Land Use Law (Act 250). As such he obtained much experience before municipal zoning authorities, District Environmental Commissions, the Vermont Environmental Board and Water Resources Board and argued two cases before the Vermont Supreme Court.

Since 1996 he has been a partner in the firm, handling its corporate and commercial transactions, including real estate development and business acquisitions. He also does estate planning, and handles the firm's divorce cases. Among his major clients are Killington, Ltd., the Bolton Valley Ski Area, Factory Point National Bank and Rome Savings Bank. Within the community he has served as Director and President of the Rutland Area Visiting Nurses Association, as well as Director and Chairman of the Board of the Vermont Achievement Center.
